Located on Gibson Point peninsula at 481 Moran Crossing, Milam, Texas, just north of the Pendleton Bridge, this historic mid-century modern cabin named "Crappie House" is perfectly situated near prime bass fishing and the famous “Chicken Coop” crappie fishing areas. Set on a 2-1/2 acre property with 650 feet of lake frontage, the 2-Bedroom 1-bath cabin sleeps 6 (4 adults max) and boasts a "million-dollar view" from the spacious deck that opens to the dining area and great room. Accommodations include a bedroom with a queen bed and a second bedroom with a queen bed and twin bunk beds. Amenities include a charcoal grill, a 52" TV with internet service, free wifi, and a well-appointed kitchen with full-size range, refrigerator-freezer with ice maker, microwave, dishwasher, and toaster oven. The bathroom has a shower stall, toilet, and single sink. There is a washer and dryer. Linens are furnished for kitchen, bed and bath. Added bonuses are the semi-private boat launch on an adjacent cove, a large fire pit with wood, a tree swing, a screened dock house with eating and conversation areas, and a fish-cleaning station on a fishing dock. Crappie House is perfect for serious fishermen, families, and couples looking for a quiet, fairly secluded get-away. Nearby there is a small market and grill that sells fishing supplies, licenses and gasoline. (Louisiana and Texas licenses are accepted on all of Toledo Bend). The town of Hemphill, Texas is a 20-minute car ride away, and has a grocery store, restaurants, ATMs and various shops. Likewise, there are the same offerings across the Pendleton Bridge in Louisiana, about 25 minutes away.
Due to HOA rules, boats must be trailered when not in use and no fireworks are permitted.

Summary: We stayed four nights. The house is comfortable with a nice air conditioner.The outside deck has plenty of seating and a charcoal grill.The fishing dock and screened in seating was a plus! We launched our boat a couple of times a day easily. You do have to take the boat out of the water every time so he prepared for that. There are games to play and a nice yard for kids to explore. Bring extra garbage bags, paper towels toilet tissue if you are expecting to need more. There’s limited groceries nearby but we figured it out no problem. Overall we would stay again at Crappie House. It was peaceful and private. Such a fun time for a family!

Summary: Very nice place, loved the history of the place, dating back to the 70’s when it was built. Great place to launch if you are interested in doing any fishing. Beautiful view to wake up to as well.

Summary: The place was clean, right on the water with a dock house out on the water which was fun to fish from. Perfect for a little getaway where we got much needed R&R. The master bed was a little uncomfortable, but the size was good for the two of us. Didn’t get to hike the National Forest because they were closed, so be sure to note this if it was on your agenda. All in all a great trip.

Summary: Wonderful place to stay and visit with the kids and grand-babies in my last week recovering from medical leave. The morning sunrises were breathtaking with abundant birdsong.
